What happened to the Marie Celeste crew on that faithful day in the sea? What caused the disappearance of the captain, two passengers and seven crewmembers? The ship was found sailing alone. The ship was sailing towards the Strait of Gibraltar and the crew was gone. The sea was calm and the sky was clear. What happen to make the crew disappear never to be heard from again? Was it a water quake? Did one of the people on board kill everyone and then leave the ship to never be seen again? Did a creature from the sea come aboard and take the passengers, captain and passengers? Did anyone really know anything about the crew and the passengers?

Many of the stories surrounding the disappearance of the ships people are without substantiation. They are just speculation. Someone reported a cat on board asleep. Teacups on the breakfast table and wash out to dry were some of the stories circulating. The cargo was still onboard and untouched or was it? The truth was that nine barrels were empty. Where did the alcohol go that was in those barrels or were they empty before the ship set sail? Why did they find the captains logbook, but no other papers. The last entry in the captain's logbook was November 24 when the ship was west of the Portuguese island about one hundred miles. The ships slate showed that the ship had reached the Santa Maria Island on November 25.

Did the crew of the Dei Gratia kill the captain, crew and passengers to claim the reward for finding the ship? Did pirates board the ship and drink the alcohol from the barrels then leave without taking the other heavy barrels along. Why has there never been another strange disappearance in the waters since? Does it sound as little strange that the ship is said to reach the island of Santa Maria, but no one has ever confirmed or denied this ship information. Why did the captain do his last log on November 24 and the ship's slate has an entry for November 25? Why are all the other papers missing?

Is it possible that the crew were caught off guard by a water quake? Why was this the only time it happened? The unsolved mystery of the Marie Celeste is always going to be a mystery unless someone finds the ships papers or knows the truth. Although everyone is dead from that time period, someone may have information that was passed down through time.

More information is needed before one can say for sure that this unsolved mystery is indeed a mystery or an act of violence against the crew, passengers and captain of the ship. Did they meet with a creature from the sea or a water quake? Did they meet up with another ship that killed everyone on board or took them hostage and dumped them father at sea? Was there a curse on the Maria Celeste that faithful day? Only the sea knows for sure what happened to the crew and captain of the ship found sailing in the water alone.

We may never know the truth about what happened. It makes no sense for the crew to just abandon the ship like that. I was surprised to learn there was another ship in the 1800's by the name Mary Celeste, which hit a reef in Bermuda in 1864 and sank. This was confusing, until I figured out there are two different ships but only one sank.

One of the greatest mysteries of the Sea, at least the Northern Atlantic.
For the Pacific i like the Joyita mystery.
Here is the Wiki page link

http://en.wikipedia....ki/Mary_Celeste

It seems to be mostly accurate and clears up some of the misconceptions about it ,for example
Marie Celeste/Mary Celeste.

The Bermuda Triangle has been one of my pet projects for the last 35 years.

What do you think really happened to Flight 19? I've often thought maybe it was just navigational training gone bad, but is there more to it?

Hey Sas,
Flight 19 and the Bermuda Triangle would probably best fit in another topic.
I cant start a new topic being a newbie, but if you start it i'll be glad to tell you what i think.
