Do you think sleep paralysis is merely a medical issue or can it in some cases be the result of a ghost contacting you in your sleep?

I would not agree with a medical issue because I can not associate this "happening" with "medical".
In some cases, it could be the visit of a ghost. He is "banning" you so that you are unable to move or flee. I would rather tend to a demon visit than to a ghostly one.
The most probable case for me is that sleep paralysis is the first step to have an OOBE (out of body experience). Your body is bound to be left where it lies, sits or stands while yourself enter your astral body.
Campfire, could you please explain to me the "medical" issue? What is meant by it?

it's a medical condition, it's a type of seizure, which makes sense because seizures are caused by irregular disruptions in brain waves and electronic activity. sleeping is a change in brain waves, it could easily affect the body like a siezure.
that said, yes it could, on rare occasion, but most likely NOT be a ghost. the odds are one in a million, well make that one in 10 million.

I have a friend who suffers from this. No matter where she lives it happens nearly every night. She does not have ghosts, demons or anything like it. For her it is 100% a medical condition.
Sleep paralysis is paralysis associated with sleep that may occur in healthy persons or may be associated with narcolepsy, cataplexy, and hypnagogic hallucinations. The pathophysiology of this condition is closely related to the normal hypotonia that occurs during REM sleep. When considered to be a disease, isolated sleep paralysis is classified as MeSH D020188. Some evidence suggests that it can also, in some cases, be a symptom of migraine.

Update on my friend with the sleep paralysis. She has not had an episode of it at all in about 2-3 years because she found out she had a Gluton allergy. As soon as she changed her diet, the sleep paralysis that she had suffered most of her life nearly every night went away just like that.
I am happy for her because I would hate to deal with Sleep Paralysis my entire life.
